Prototype Version 1.0 Release Notes:


Mechanics:

  • Basic Player Movement
  • Player Shooting
  • Acceleration/Deceleration with Movement
  • Reticle Movement
  • Reticle Color Shift (When the player hovers the reticle over objects that can be destroyed it changes color)
  • Boost Mechanic (player picks up "Boost Item" and can use it to increase Max Speed)
  • Shield Mechanic (Shield pops up when you "use" the item, but still needs some tweaking with player collision)
  • Player Collision with objects (when the player crashes into objects, the player receives a "knocked out" effect)

Assets:

  • "Demo" Race Track
  • "Demo" Spaceship
  • Destroyable Objects
  • Particle Effects (Explosions when the player shoots Destroyable Objects)
  • Speed Lines
  • Hologram Item Box Shader
  • 3D Reticle for Reticle Movement
  • Space Themed Skybox

Road Map for Prototype Version 2.0 Release:

  • Create First "Real" Track
  • Add Main Player Ship for the player to fly
  • Add "Energy" Pickup Model (We are reworking the Boost Mechanic)
  • Change Controls to be more user-friendly (provide an option for inverted controls, and simplify player movement and actions)
  • Change Bullet Aim (Increase accuracy of bullet projectiles, currently some bullets do not go where the reticle is aiming)
  • Addition of a player Health Bar (Energy Bar- the energy bar will represent the player's "health" and "boost" available)
  • Pickups will be able to be driven through (playtesters recommended this change)
  • Addition of a Lap System with "Check Points" for the player to reach
  • Addition of "Bullet Trails" to the ship's bullets
  • Add Engine Trails to ship engines
  • Addition of UI feedback for the amount of bullets the player has and the amount of energy the player has available
